What You Need To Know Before Traveling With Your Dog

April 4, 2021 / by Violet & Anna / Leave a Comment

Traveling with your pet may seem an exciting thing to do. For some, it may be a necessity. Unfortunately, not all dogs are born to be travelers. They’re unique in their own ways and respond differently to situations.

There are some things you need to do for your dog right from the time you make an حجز مصر للطيران or any other reservation to the point you land at your destination.

This article highlights some of those things.

  1. Have Your Dog Examined

It’s best to take your pet to a vet and have it examined. That’s because these animals respond differently to air pressures and temperatures. Some pet owners have lost their dogs on long-hour flights because they couldn’t breathe properly in high altitudes. An examination can help you identify such problems and make the right decisions.

Also, an examination will enable you to obtain a travel health certificate for your dog. It’s best to make two copies of the certificate: one for your boarding documents and the other for your dog’s carrier for easy accessibility. Don’t forget to ask your vet if your dog’s health can allow it to handle air travel.

  1. Read Air Travel Rules For Dogs

It may be tempting to make a حجز طيران النيل before reading pet rules. But it would be best to go through the rules and understand the policies for dealing with pets. These rules don’t cut across the board because every airline has individual policies.

However, most airlines require that you travel with a pet that’s older than twelve weeks, has good health and vaccination certificates. They may also ask you to carry plenty of water and food for longer journeys.

  1. Your pet’s Travel History

It may be difficult to fly a pet that’s never flown on a plane before. The bad news is that most pet owners expect too much from their pets. Pet behaviorists advise that you should prepare your dog for such a flight by taking them for short commuter flights. That way, you’ll determine if they’re fit for longer journeys. If you can, it would be best to train your pet to travel when it’s still a puppy.

  1. Pet Stress Levels

Dogs have different stress levels. Fortunately, you can easily know if your pet is easily stressed. If you notice it hiding in the bathtub whenever there’s thunder, travelling with it may be a bad idea, and you may have to leave it at home. If that’s the case, you may also have to find a caretaker to look after it until you return.

However, you can find ways of dealing with a nervous dog. Visit your vet and ask them to give your dog stress-relieving products that you can spray in the carrier when it starts experiencing pressure changes.

  1. Dog Breed

Some dog breeds like the snub-nosed ones may have respiratory difficulties when flying. Others include pugs, boxers, and Boston terriers. Most airlines won’t allow you to go past the airport with these dogs if they don’t have a vet certificate.

The Bottom Line

There’s no doubt that dogs can be your friendliest companions. However, before you set out for a trip with them, it would be best to ensure they’re safe. These tips will help you travel safely with your dog.
