Usually, such photo sessions do not require thorough preparation. You do not need elegant clothes or a stylist. Comfort and sincere emotions are the most important parts of a photo session. Yet there are just a couple of things you need to know before having a photo session with your best friend.
If you are planning to participate
You can have a photo shoot for dog only or you can participate in it. In fact, both ways are OK. Photos with owners turn out so touching and nice.
Prepare yourself for just a casual walk. You will run, play and have fun with your dog. First of all, everything you wear should be comfortable. If you would like to have a lot of different photos, prepare an extra set of clothes. Please do not wear new or uncomfortable shoes. It will distract you and affect the photos. Discomfort is too visible, we do not need it.
Sleep well before the photo session. Wearing a lot of makeup is not recommended unless you are planning a creative photo shoot with your dog. Do not get nervous, it’s just a walk with the dog. Remember, animals feel your stress and will get stressed too.
What to do for your dog
On the photo session day, the dog should not eat too much. It would be better to give less food than usual. The most delicious treats are to be saved for the photo shooting. If your dog likes various types of treats, take them all. You’ll never regret it. Cut the treats into small pieces and put them in the container. Make sure you have enough treats for a long walk.
Do not forget to take favourite toys. Same as the treats, take several toys. Another good idea is bringing a new toy together with the old ones. Surprising your pet usually works great.
Accessories
This is so obvious, but we need to say it: the leash or harness you use should be lasting. Especially if you can’t let your pet off the leash. If possible, choose the neutral color for the accessories. It should not attract attention in the photo.
On the other hand, nice ties, small scarfs, hats or other things can be bright and fun. A perfect accessory will match the owner’s clothes. It affects the style and will do a lot for the ready photos.
Location
Choosing the location is usually up to the owner. Photo shoot for dogs can take place in a park or in the city street. A professional photographer will help you to choose the right location if you are in doubt. Once again, comfort is the most important element of the photo session. If the dog is afraid of city fuzz, then the park would be better. If the pet can’t stand a car ride, then the location should be near your home.
