Common Botox Myths and Their Facts

January 30, 2020 / by Violet & Anna / Leave a Comment

Botox is one of the most popular non-surgical aesthetic treatments around the world. It helps prevent wrinkles, thus making patients look younger and fresher. Although it’s well-known, there are still several misconceptions about it. We listed some of these myths below and the truth behind them.

You will get an immediate result

Upon getting botox, you will not see the result right away. The changes will be gradual, and it may take a few days before you can see some improvement. However, the result that you are after will often be seen after a week or after ten days. Since it is not the same for everyone, there are instances where patients see the full result after two injections.

It’s only for women

There are a lot of women who undergo aesthetic procedures like anti wrinkle injections, but it doesn’t mean that it’s only them who get these services. Men also get these treatments. Both genders want to achieve a youthful appearance and botox is a non-invasive procedure that they can choose.

It’s ideal for those who want to get an effective result without the risk of going under the knife and the hassle of a lengthy recovery period. Although the recovery is quick, there are still things that you need to avoid after the treatment, including excessive exercise and too much movement. It’s to prevent the solution from spreading to other parts of the face, where it shouldn’t go.

The result is permanent

Many people think that when they get botox, the result will be permanent. Unfortunately, this is not the case as the effect will fade after about three to six months. The duration depends on every person. Some of the factors that may contribute to it are the dosage received and the number of times that they received the treatment. Once the effect fades, your appearance will go back to what it looked like before the procedure. You will need another injection to keep the effect.

It’s unsafe

Like any other treatments, there are still some risks involved, but they are very minimal with botox, especially if done by a professional. It is a generally safe procedure. The reason why some people think that it’s unsafe is it uses a toxic solution called botulinum toxin. However, as long as the correct dosage is used for the treatment, it will not be toxic in the system. It’s also one of the reasons why it’s vital that you only let an expert in this field do the job.

It looks unnatural

One of the most common misconceptions about botox is that the face will look unnatural after the treatment. That’s true if a non-specialist does the work. However, specialists in this procedure will know the right technique to ensure that you get the best result, which is a natural-looking, youthful appearance.

It’s only used for wrinkles

Botox is not only used for treating wrinkles. It’s also used for other procedures like lifting droopy eyelids. Moreover, it’s used in other medical treatments like the treatment of migraine, sexual problems like premature ejaculation, and abnormal heart patterns.

Botox is generally safe and effective. Be sure to get the treatment only from trusted professionals to get the best result.
